About
Cogitare

Cogitare is Latin for "to think" and thinking is how I ended up creating this organization.  I started my career in the US Navy as a Nuclear Electrician's Mate, which is where I first learned not just engineering skills, but even more important, leadership ability. After the Navy, I worked at a High-Voltage, High-Power, Short Circuit testing facility where I was able to learn how to find ideal candidates to assist me in my very technical work. My next role was as a senior engineer for a particle accelerator, responsible for producing radiopharmaceuticals, where I learned how to teach employees science and engineering skills to increase their abilities.

It is while I was working as a particle accelerator engineer that the consulting seed had been planted. I had been contacted by many different organizations with job offers, but none of the offers had been something I could commit to. But the contacts had questions I was fascinated to explore with them, things like a vacuum seal that kept failing but could be solved by using a different kind of grease, or a need to hire an engineer, but then transform them into a leader, which could be solved in the candidate selection process if you knew what to look for.

Then one day it happened, I got the call to do my first paid consulting gig, and then another, and another. That's when I realized the work could be sustainable if I went for it.
